Did you know that in every game against Virginia, BYU has attempted more than 40 passes, passed for over 300 yards, and had the same number of touchdown passes as interceptions?
Sean Covey: 37-61, 394 yards, 1 TD, 1 Int.
Kevin Feterik: 28-47, 303 yards, 3 TD, 3 Int.
Bret Engemann: 34-41, 447 yards, 2 TD, 2 Int.
It will be interesting to see if any of these trends continue on August 31. There is the impression that BYU will run more than usual under this new Anae offense since Anae was influenced by Rich Rodriguez at Arizona. However, the offense BYU ran in 1999 was also influenced by Rodriguez.
After losing to Tulane in the 1998 Liberty Bowl, BYU coaches picked the Tulane offensive coordinator's brain during the offseason. That offensive coordinator was none other than Rich Rod.
It may be important to note that in the three games referenced above the only game BYU won was when the fewest passes were attempted, but the most passing yards were accumulated.
